Responsible Mobile Car Inspections

At OnlineMechanic, our inspection service is very thorough. We do everything we can to make sure that our customers are satisfied with the quality and extent our service.

However, there are some things we cannot do.

What Can’t be Done During Our Mobile Car Inspections

• We cannot remove car components or examine their internal condition such as wheels, engine covers etc. Inspections are limited to what is externally visible on the day.

• We cannot detect cleared computer system fault codes and lights, cleaned oil leaks, inaccessible areas and vehicle fluid quality.

• We cannot perform a full underbody inspection of the vehicle. As a mobile car inspections service we do not have access to a hoist and cannot lift the car in any way that may pose a risk to ourselves and the vehicle. Underbody inspections are still noted in our report but are limited to accessibility.

• We do not take responsibility for any faults or damage discovered after our inspection is complete. While we do a thorough check over the car, we cannot account for problems that are not visible on the day. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Damage in areas hidden in or behind components we can’t remove
  • Oil leaks that have been cleaned before our attendance that return
  • Cleared system fault codes and lights that bounce back after an inspection.

We want to make sure you get the most out of your car inspection. That’s why we charge a flat rate of $220 for our mobile car inspections service if your vehicle is located on the Central Coast.

If you need us to travel outside the Central Coast region, however, we charge $220 for the inspection and an additional travel fee calculated at $55 per hour to and from the location.

We understand that some of our customers may be concerned about the risks involved in having someone visit their home or workplace to carry out an inspection. For this reason, we offer a contactless service if preferred so that everyone can be assured of their safety at all times.

Contactless Service

We follow the NSW Health recommendations for contactless service providers and maintain social distancing, mask wearing and any other requirements specified by our customers and NSW Health.

We make sure that when we inspect a vehicle your health and safety are not at risk, so we:

• Arrange with the vehicle owner how we will gain access to the vehicle and return the keys to them. You don’t have to be present for an inspection. 

• Maintain social distancing by keeping a safe distance from you and/or the vehicle owner at all times while conducting inspections. 
• Use masks when there is a risk of exposure.

• Mechanical & Body Inspections are visual only. We cannot remove any component on a vehicle to check for damage or wear. This includes but is not limited to wheels & lug nuts, engine/battery/component covers, spark plugs, air filters, electronics, vehicle modifications, etc.;

• Robin Baldwin takes no liability or responsibility for vehicle faults and damage found after an inspection. This includes but is not limited to cleared computer system fault codes and lights, cleaned oil leaks, inaccessible areas and vehicle fluids.;

• Access to hoists is unavailable during a mobile inspection. Underbody inspections are provided but are limited to accessibility.;

• Mobile inspections performed outside the Central Coast region incur a $55 per hour travel fee. Travel fees are calculated at the time of quote and include travel to and from the location and our East Gosford Office.;
• All inspection bookings must be authorised and confirmed with the vehicle owner before they can proceed.;
• Full payment of services must be received before an inspection can be undertaken and any documentation related to an inspection or tax invoice is released.;
• We do not accept Cash, Credit or Debit card payments. All payments must be made through direct bank transfer with details provided in an invoice via email.;
• All cancellations for inspections within and outside the Central Coast are accepted with full refunds provided.
